Excire Analytics FAQs

Excire Foto is a very powerful software that quickly and reliably returns image search results. You can read a detailed evaluation compared to Google Foto and Apple here.

Excire is available for Mac OS and Windows and supports the latest processor generations (M1 and Silverlake) and their hardware support for artificial intelligence on both platforms.

In the future you will receive normal updates such as error corrections or minor improvements free of charge. Only upgrades, ie major improvements and significant innovations, are chargeable.

Unfortunately this is not possible. However, this is not due to Excire Foto, but much more to the processes that are currently used for image analysis. These procedures were trained with several million photos on special hardware.
All of this happens in a complex offline process that takes several days. This is the only way to achieve maximum recognition performance, although we would like to point out that our solution is a compromise between the best recognition performance and minimal runtime because our software does not run in a cloud but on customer computers. Unfortunately, such methods cannot be trained with just a few examples, or if this happens, the recognition performance is (often) unacceptable.

Excire Foto does not send any data to external parties. Data protection is important to us! Therefore, our AI analyzes your photos on your computer.

We support the following image formats: .3fr, .arw, .cr2, .cr3 (Mac only and from macOS 10.15), .crw, .dcr, .dng, .erf, .gpr, .heic, .heif, .iiq , .kdc, .mef, .mos, .mrw, .nef, .nrw, .orf, .pef, .ppm, .raf, .raw, .rw2, .rwl, .sr2, .srf, .srw, . x3f , .bmp, .jpg, .jpeg, .jpe, .jfif, .png, .pgm, .tif, .tiff

Please note that some compressed variants of these formats are not supported by us or the libraries we use. We therefore recommend testing Excire Foto with your own photos before purchasing. For Windows users, we recommend installing the Microsoft Raw image extension:

Files with the extension .heic or .heif have been supported since version 1.1.1.
There is nothing else to do on Mac OS. Here the HEIC format is processed automatically.
HEIC format is not natively supported on Windows. In order to view .heic files, the system must support HEVC compression. For example, you can install the following two extensions from the Microsoft Store offered by Microsoft Corporation:
HEIF image extensions (free) and HEVC video extensions (paid).
