How it works

“Search for People” allows you to find photos that show certain persons. Similar to our similarity search, you can select one or more photos and choose the relevant face of the person whose photos you are looking for.

Furthermore, various filter options are available to make the search more specific.

The user dialog is opened by selecting the corresponding menu item in Library→Plug-in Extras→Excire Search. or by using the keyboard shortcuts ⌥⇧⌘Z (macOS) and Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Z (Windows).

1. Search with:

  • All faces: Search with all persons, who were recognized.
  • One selected face: Option to search with a selected face, referencing it by a digit.
  • Selected face: Search for several persons, who are referenced with a comma-separated list of identifiers.

2. Search for images with:

  • All selected people: If several people were selected, this option allows for searching for photos, which contain each person.
  • One selected face: For each single person an own search is conducted which yields an own result list.

3. Filter by face properties:

  • Smile: Look for persons, who smile.
  • No smile Only find faces that are not smiling.
  • Eyes open Look for persons with open eyes.
  • Eyes closed Look for persons with closed eyes.

4. Filter by number of faces:

  • Any: The number of faces in the result photos does not matter.
  • One face: Only show photos, that contain one face.
  • Two faces: Only show photos, that contain two faces.
  • Three faces: Only show photos, that contain three faces.
  • Group: Only show photos, that contain more than three faces.

5. Filter by keywords:
With this dialog you can select keywords and dominant colors that you want to use to limit the resulting photo set. By selecting the keyword “beach” you can reduce the result set to photos that contain a relevant person and which were tagged with the keyword “beach”.

6. Search in:
These are the usual search options, which can also be set in the other Excire Search search functions.

Excire Foto 2022 - Trial version

Note for existing Excire Foto customers: Excire Foto users have to keep in mind for testing that the previous Excire database will be modified when the program is started for the first time. Thus a switch back to version 1.3 is not possible without a backup. We therefore recommend creating a backup before using Excire Foto 2022. How to do this is described in the following forum posts: LINK 1 and LINK 2

Storage 375 MB available HD space for basic installation and further HD space for storage of image feature data, e.g. an Adobe Lightroom Catalogue of 100000 images requires about 800 MB of additional HD space.

Note: Using this software does not require an active internet connection.

Excire Analytics

Excire Analytics is an innovative extension for Excire Foto that provides valuable insights into your photographic work.

Use the numerous functions and settings of Excire Analytics to make better purchasing decisions for future photo equipment, learn from the evaluations and improve your photo skills.

Excire Analytics requires at least Excire Foto version 2.0 and can be activated by entering an activation code. Simply enter such a code in your Excire Foto version in the settings in the tab „Licence“. The corresponding functions will then be activated and the required components will be installed.
